A published author and editor since 1990, Savannah, Georgia-based Jim Reed has chronicled the worlds of music, film and popular culture —and the artists and creatives responsible for such endeavors— in a wide variety of print media, as well as on broadcast TV and radio.
An award-winning journalist, his work has appeared in daily newspapers and alternative weeklies, as well as in glossy regional bi-monthly and internationally-distributed monthly magazines of note.
Known for an extensive knowledge of niche musical and cinematic genres, and a natural gift for conducting relaxed —and often unexpectedly revealing— interviews with all manner of notable figures (from Grammy, Emmy and Oscar winners to living legends and members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame), he has steadily built a large body of high-quality published articles, profiles, reviews, essays and opinion pieces.
He served for years as on-air entertainment correspondent for a network TV affiliate station in Savannah, and is currently an occasional guest commentator for Georgia Public Broadcasting.
Since 2003, Jim has also served as the founder and Executive & Artistic Director of The Psychotronic Film Society of Savannah, one of the nation’s longest-running (and most award-winning) independent film presentation organizations devoted to fringe cinema.
